Winnipeg, Mb, August 7, 2007: “World’s Greatest Escape Artist” Dean Gunnarson can’t escape from Ripley’s Believe it or Not and their new book, that is being released today, entitled “The Remarkable …Revealed…. Inside Gunnarson is featured on two full color pages with his incredible Cement Tomb escape he attempted last Halloween in Winnipeg, Canada.
On Oct. 31, 2006 at exactly 1:26 P.M. Gunnarson was handcuffed with several pairs of police handcuffs. The handcuffs were then chained and padlocked around his waist, entire body and even tightly around his neck. Dean was then placed upright into a standing plexiglass tomb and the lid was then locked with 6 maximum security padlocks. Gunnarson then added an element of danger that had Never Been Attempted!
Two and ½ Tons of Wet Cement was then poured into the clear tomb on top of Gunnarson until he was totally encased in this concrete prison. Dean had to escape before he was crushed and suffocated by the sheer weight of the cement he was encased in. This escape had never been attempted by anyone, anywhere in the world!!! Not even by the Great Houdini himself. This escape was attempted with NO curtains or anything else that tried to conceal his attempt to escape. In Ripley’s new book “The Remarkable …Revealed”, you will witness the entire life and death struggle by Gunnarson as he frees himself in a time of 2 minutes and 43 seconds on pages 131-132.
