World's Greatest Escape Artist, Dean Gunnarson,
survives near Death Collision with a
Speeding roller Coaster in China

Beijing, China July 27,2010: World's Greatest Escape Artist, Dean Gunnarson, survived a near death collision with a speeding roller coaster while trying to escape after being chained to the tracks of a bullet coaster in Beijing, China for an upcoming magic special airing across China on Central China television #1 station.

Gunnarson was escaping after being handcuffed and chained across the tracks and was attempting to dive away to safety, when the speeding roller coaster caught up to him traveling at nearly 100 km's an hour and clipped his right foot in mid air as it speed past him. Gunnarson was immediately taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a broken bone in his foot and internal bleeding which is creating a great deal of pain and making it difficult for him to walk . Dean is out of the hospital and being monitored and hopes to be cleared by doctors so he can return to his home in Canada on Wednesday July 28.

Gunnarson has attempted many dangerous and extreme escapes in his long
career but feels it was the intense heat of 36' C and the sweaty humid
conditions that caused him to lose a fraction of a split second he needed
to clear the coaster. Even though Dean is in a tremendous amount of pain
he considers himself extremely lucky to have escaped without losing his
leg or getting killed.

"I have always said I don't do card tricks or pull bunny's out of hat. I push the envelope in an extreme way that tries to do the impossible with every great escape I have ever attempted. I like to keep things close but this was beyond close. It was near death," said Gunnarson after coming out of the hospital.

Gunnarson who recently married his long time friend and mother of his two
little girls July 10, looks forward to coming home and having some healing time with his family before continuing with his "Bound for Danger World Tour." This Halloween Gunnarson plans on being locked inside a steel coffin and buried six feet underground for two days. After two days of being buried alive he will attempt to escape on Oct 31, the anniversary of Harry Houdini`s Death in 1926.

Pictures of the collision between Gunnarson and the coaster will be available shortly after being cleared by CCT in China.
